Shelley Howes serves as the Deputy Assistant Inspector General for Audits at the US Environmental Protection Agency since October 2023. Previously, from May 2009 to February 2024, Shelley held the position of Supervisor for Transportation Security Performance Evaluations at the United States Department of Homeland Security, leading teams that assessed the effectiveness of various security policies and programs across federal agencies. Prior experience includes serving as the Assistant Inspector General for Evaluations at the Peace Corps from 2007 to 2009, overseeing evaluations of international offices and key programs. Shelley holds a Master of Arts in Cultural Anthropology from The Catholic University of America and a Bachelor of Arts in Cultural Anthropology from the University of Maine.
