Olympic Weightlifter, Team E3 at USA Weightlifting

Angela Aherrera is an accomplished academic and researcher currently serving as an Assistant Professor at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, starting in August 2024. Angela is also actively involved as an Advisory Panel member for the Early Career Researcher Initiative at Environmental Health Perspectives since December 2022 and maintains a competitive athletic career as an Olympic Weightlifter with USA Weightlifting, representing the 49 kg weight class. Previously, Angela held various roles, including Principal Investigator under a K99/R00 Award at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, and has been a Postdoctoral Fellow within the institution’s Pediatric Pulmonary Division. Angela's experience spans multiple organizations, enhancing sustainability initiatives with Global Fashion Agenda and conducting research as a Fellow at the American Heart Association. Education includes a Doctor of Public Health from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and a Bachelor of Arts from The Johns Hopkins University, complemented by a strong foundation in math and sciences from Philippine Science High School.
