Joe Makepeace, CFA, is an accomplished finance professional with extensive experience in capital markets and alternative investments. Currently serving as Principal of Alternative Capital Solutions at USAA since August 2025, Joe previously held the position of Director of Capital Markets at Ledger Investing from February 2023 to August 2025, where the focus was on connecting risk to capital through insurance-linked securities. Prior experience includes a tenure as Director at RiskSpan from 2015 to 2022, specializing in the asset-backed securities industry, particularly with Mortgage-Backed Securities and Private Credit. Joe began his career as an Associate at Modus21, LLC from May 2014 to May 2015. Joe holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from the Darla Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina.
