Katya Petrova

Katya Petrova has over two decades of experience in analytical chemistry and research within the pharmaceutical and environmental sectors. Currently a Scientist IV at US Pharmacopeia since September 2014, Katya previously held the role of Scientist III and worked on Monograph Modernization in Research & Development. Expertise includes developing and validating analytical methods utilizing HPLC and conducting research to support revisions to official compendia. Prior experience includes serving as a Commissioner's Fellow at the FDA, where Katya applied NMR-based metabolomic analysis for biomarker identification, and a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Vanderbilt University, focusing on DNA adducts and their implications in cancer research. Katya's career also encompasses roles as an Assistant Professor at Sofia University and a Senior Expert at the Executive Environment Agency Bulgaria, where environmental pollutant analysis was a key responsibility. Katya holds a PhD in Technology of Fine Organic Synthesis and Biochemical Synthesis and an MS in Chemistry and Physics from Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski.
