Ginny Bowen, PhD, is the Chief of Communicable Disease Surveillance & Response at the Administration for Children and Families (ACF), where they oversee health initiatives for unaccompanied children. They have served as a Commander in the Commissioned Corps of the U.S. Public Health Service since 2013 and previously worked as an Epidemiologist at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention from 2015 to 2021. Ginny completed their PhD in Population, Family, and Reproductive Health at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and holds a Bachelor of Science in Cell/Cellular and Molecular Biology from the University of Georgia. Their early experience includes research internships at both the Bill & Melinda Gates Institute and Johns Hopkins Center for Communication Programs.
