Matthew Wise is an experienced public health professional with a focus on epidemiology, currently serving as the Branch Chief for the Outbreak Response and Prevention Branch at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) since July 2008. In this role, Matthew leads efforts to efficiently triage and investigate multistate foodborne and zoonotic disease outbreaks, while also promoting health safety through effective risk communication. Prior to this, Matthew held various positions within the CDC, including Deputy Branch Chief and Epidemic Intelligence Service Officer. Matthew's public health career initiated at the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health as an Epidemiologist. Matthew holds a PhD in Epidemiology, as well as additional degrees from UCLA and Pomona College. Matthew is also a Captain in the U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps.
