Sandra Carpio is a Lieutenant Commander with extensive experience in public health service, currently serving in the Commissioned Corps of the U.S. Public Health Service since February 2016. Sandra holds the position of Regional Emergency Coordinator for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services since July 2020 and has also taken on roles such as Recovery Operations Region 2 Team Lead and Acting Field Recovery Coordinator. Previously, Sandra worked as a Consumer Safety Officer at the FDA from February 2016 to June 2020. Sandra's academic background includes a Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) study at the University of Puerto Rico and a graduate fellowship at the Pediatric Environmental Health Specialty Unit. Additionally, Sandra has gained early career experience through internships at the Health Committee of the House of Representatives and the FDA.
