Sean Griffing is an experienced epidemiologist currently serving with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in the Division of HIV and AIDS Prevention since December 2016, contributing to the development of guidelines for HIV prevention. Additionally, Sean holds the position of Lieutenant Commander in the Commissioned Corps of the U.S. Public Health Service, leading a team that provides critical data on vaccine administration during the COVID-19 response. Previous roles include participation in the 2016 Zika Response and engagements at the American Society of Microbiology and the Smithsonian Institution, demonstrating a strong background in molecular epidemiology and public health research. Sean's educational qualifications include a PhD in Population Biology, Ecology, and Evolution from Emory University and a Master of Public Health from the University of South Florida.
