Susan Karol, MD, is a seasoned medical professional currently serving as Chief Medical Officer of the Division of Tribal Affairs at the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services since January 2017. With a long-standing career in public health, Susan Karol has held the position of Captain in the Commissioned Corps of the U.S. Public Health Service since July 1988. Prior to the current role, Susan Karol was the Chief Medical Officer at the Indian Health Service from September 2008 to January 2017. Susan Karol holds a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Dartmouth College and has a medical degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin.
