John G. New

John G. New is an Administrative Patent Judge at the USPTO, a role they have held since 2012. Previously, they worked as an Attorney in the Civil Division of the United States Department of Justice from 2010 to 2012 and served as a Law Clerk for the Hon. Paul R. Michel at the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit from 2009 to 2010. They also clerked for the Hon. Joan B. Gottschall at the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois from 2007 to 2008. In addition to their legal experience, New was a Professor of Biology and held various adjunct positions at Loyola University Chicago from 1989 to 2009. New is currently a Professorial Lecturer in Law at The George Washington University Law School.
