Ray Fortney

Trustee at USS Hornet

Ray Fortney has served as a Trustee for the Aircraft Carrier Hornet Foundation since 2009 and was elected Chairman in 2015.

Ray graduated from the US Naval Academy in 1967 and served on nuclear submarines in San Diego and Hawaii. He also served as an instructor at the Navy Nuclear Power Training Unit. He earned a Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University, and attended the Executive Program at the Stanford University Graduate School of Business.

Following the Navy, Ray held several executive positions including President and CEO of VECTRA Technologies, Inc., an international engineering services company serving the nuclear power industry; President and CEO of Impell Corporation; and a senior executive at Combustion Engineering, Inc. He has served on public, private, international, and non-profit boards of directors.

Ray grew up in Visalia, California, where his family has lived since 1951. He now lives in Danville. He is active in community affairs including education, charities, and public policy.
