The University of Texas at Austin Chapter of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers was founded in 1982 as a place for Hispanic engineers to come together.

The Directors Team at the UT Austin Chapter of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) is responsible for guiding the chapter's strategic initiatives.
