Brett Benson has extensive work experience in various roles within the media and technology industries. Brett started their career at Park City Television, where they served as the General Manager, Sales Manager, Chief Engineer, Host/Anchor, and Weathercaster. During their time there, they successfully launched the first live broadcast in the history of the network. Benson then joined KTVX TV as a Weather Forecaster, where they prepared and presented live weather forecasts. Brett played a significant role in helping the network become a top contender in the morning news market.
In 1999, Benson transitioned to Alpha Computer Solutions, where they worked as a Sales Marketing Executive. Brett was responsible for researching, writing, developing, and delivering sales presentations for an Information Technology Training Center. Brett achieved remarkable success by enrolling hundreds of new students for computer training.
In 2003, Benson joined Weather Central, LP as a Regional Sales Manager. In this role, they sold advanced computer systems used for delivering weather forecasts to television audiences. Brett managed all aspects of sales, including forecasting, customer retention, and budgeting in the southeast region.
In 2006, Benson joined KSTU Fox 13 TV as the Chief Meteorologist. Brett demonstrated exceptional skills in delivering nightly weather forecasts for multiple newscasts and led two successful transitions between computer systems/platforms. Benson was directly responsible for forecasting, graphic development, and presentation content.
In 2018, Benson expanded their expertise to include freelance work as a Meteorologist for KSL 5 TV. Brett provided meteorological services on a flexible basis.
Most recently, Benson has been working at Utah Scientific since 2017. Brett initially held roles as the Vice President and Director of Strategic Accounts before assuming their current position as the President/CEO.
Brett Benson attended Brigham Young University from 1988 to 2004, where they earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) degree in Broadcast Journalism. In 2009, they enrolled in Mississippi State University and completed their studies in 2012. Although the field of study is not specified for their time at Mississippi State, Brett Benson obtained a certification from the National Weather Association, although the exact details of when and where this certification was obtained are not provided.
