Bernard J. Turi

EVP & General Counsel, General Auditor & Chief Risk Officer at Utica National Insurance Group

Mr. Turi joined the company in 1987 as a Senior Claims Specialist in the Errors and Omissions Department. He was promoted to Staff Attorney in 1990; Associate Claims Attorney in 1995; Claims Attorney/Director of Liability Claims in 1999; Associate General Counsel and Claims Attorney in 2004; Director of Risk & Reinsurance in 2011; General Counsel and Director of Risk & Reinsurance in December 2013; and General Counsel, General Auditor and Chief Risk Officer in 2014. He serves as the Chair of the Screening Committee of the Utica National Group Foundation.

He was named an officer of the company as Assistant Vice President in 1999, promoted to Vice President in 2007, named Senior Vice President in 2011, and promoted to Executive Vice President in 2021.

A cum laude graduate of Niagara University with a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science, Mr. Turi earned a Juris Doctorate from the Syracuse University College of Law. He was 2014 and 2015 Chair of the New York Insurance Association (NYIA), and served on the NYIA Board of Directors from 2007-2015, and as an officer with the organization 2010-2015. He currently serves as Vice Chair on the Board of Directors and Chair of the Finance and Audit Committees of the New York Property Insurance Underwriting Association (NYPIUA), the Board of Directors of the Motor Vehicle Accident Indemnification Corporation (MVAIC) and he was appointed by the New York State Superintendent of the Department of Financial Services to serve as a member of the New York State Insurance Advisory Committee (he is currently serving his second 3-year term).

He is admitted to practice law before the courts of the State of New York as well as the United States District Court for the Northern District of New York.
