Derek Tugwell

Derek Tugwell has extensive work experience in the energy and utility industry. Derek is currently the Co-Founder and President of UtilityInnovation Group, a position they have held since 2021. Prior to that, Derek spent the majority of their career at PowerSecure International, Inc. where they held various roles of increasing responsibility. These roles include Senior Vice President of Sales - Data Center, President of Distributed Generation, Vice President - Controller, Controller - Utility Services, Regional Sales Manager, and Accounting/Finance. Overall, Derek's experience spans over 19 years in leadership, sales, finance, and operations in the energy and utility sectors.

Derek Tugwell completed their Bachelor of Science in Business Management from North Carolina State University, where they studied from 2004 to 2007. In addition to their degree, they obtained the certification of Certified Energy Manager from the Association of Energy Engineers in January 2013.
