Steve Markland

Steve Markland is an experienced music industry professional with extensive expertise in artist and repertoire (A&R) development. Markland served as VP of Nashville Operations at Utopia Music from January 2022 to May 2023, and prior to that, worked at Downtown Music Publishing Group from February 2014 to June 2021 as Executive VP A&R, where Markland established and led the Nashville operation. Markland's career also includes impactful roles at Warner Chappell Music, where Kacey Musgraves was signed to their first publishing deal, and Windswept Pacific Music Publishing, where significant artists like Randy Houser were developed. With a background that spans over three decades, including early positions at RCA Records and Patrick Joseph Music Publishing, Markland has collaborated with numerous award-winning songwriters and artists. Markland holds a degree from Belmont University, completed in December 1989.
