Marende de Gier

Marende de Gier is an Exotic Animal Veterinarian at Universiteit Utrecht since October 2024, providing temporary coverage during a pregnancy leave. Prior experience includes serving as an ECC veterinarian and Small Animal Rotating Intern at Evidensia Dierenziekenhuis Hart van Brabant Waalwijk from June 2023 to September 2024, and as a Companion Animal Veterinarian at AniCura Nederland from December 2022 to May 2023. Marende's earlier roles include guiding tours at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Universiteit Utrecht, conducting research on Chlamydia caviae in guinea pigs, and completing a clinical externship at Dierenkliniek Veenendaal, which specialized in exotic animals. Educational credentials include a Master of Science in Companion Animal Medicine and a Bachelor of Science in Veterinary Medicine, both from Utrecht University, along with a VWO degree from Amadeus Lyceum. Additionally, Marende has demonstrated leadership and community involvement through various roles, including conducting gym clinics for the Nederlandse Ski Vereniging and serving in a PR and Sponsoring capacity for the study association Hygieia.
