Hasan Kahya is currently a PhD Fellow at Research Foundation Flanders (FWO) and a PhD candidate at Vrije Universiteit Brussel, focusing on the plasma proinsulin and proinsulin/C-peptide ratio for predicting the progression to type 1 diabetes in at-risk individuals. In the medical residency program, Hasan Kahya serves as a resident in internal medicine at UZ Gent and previously at AZ Sint-Lucas Gent and AZ Sint-Elisabeth Zottegem, with rotations in various specialties including cardiology, geriatrics, and nephrology. Educational qualifications include pursuing an MD degree at Ghent University, supplemented by microcredentials in laboratory animal science from the University of Antwerp, and a Master’s degree in Medicine from Ghent University. Earlier academic achievements also include a Bachelor's degree from Ghent University. Research experience includes a focus on iNKT cells in sarcopenia during a tenure as a researcher at Ghent University.
