Mieke Deschodt

Mieke Deschodt is the Head of the Gerontology & Geriatrics research group and an Assistant Professor at KU Leuven since March 2014. Mieke has led several significant research projects, including G-COACH, G-ERAS, and imAGE.eu, focusing on geriatric care models and assessments. In addition, Mieke served as a co-principal investigator for the KCE project on comprehensive geriatric care in hospitals. Mieke is an Executive Board Member and Fellow at The European Academy of Nursing Science, and has been a Board Member at Wit-Gele Kruis Vlaams-Brabant since January 2022. Mieke's academic contributions also include previous roles as an Assistant Professor at UHasselt and as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Universität Basel, along with volunteering as a nurse during the COVID-19 crisis. Mieke's educational background includes a PhD in Biomedical Sciences and a Master's degree in Nursing Science from KU Leuven.
