Rik Lories

Rik Lories is a distinguished medical professional with extensive experience in internal medicine and rheumatology. Since 2003, Rik Lories has served as the Director of Internal Medicine and Head of the Division of Rheumatology at UZ Leuven, while also holding the position of Consultant Rheumatologist. Additionally, Rik Lories serves as the Scientific Committee Chair for the FOREUM Foundation for Research in Rheumatology and is Head of the Department of Development and Regeneration and a Full Professor at KU Leuven. In academia, Rik Lories has co-directed the Laboratory of Tissue Homeostasis and Disease alongside Prof. Silvia Monteagudo since 2005. In various leadership roles within EULAR, Rik Lories has contributed significantly to research in rheumatology. Educationally, Rik Lories holds a PhD in Biomedical Sciences, a Master in Hospital Management, and an MD in Medicine, all from KU Leuven.
