Cédric Smets

Cédric Smets is a proficient Medical Laboratory Technician with extensive experience in laboratory settings. Currently working at UZA since March 2020, Cédric specializes in clinical chemistry, hematology, and immunohematology as part of the night team, responsible for urgent analyses and managing the blood bank. Prior to UZA, Cédric worked at UZ Leuven from November 2013 to March 2020 in molecular diagnostics, focusing on DNA/RNA extractions and real-time PCR testing for various pathogens. Earlier experiences include internships and job student positions at ZNA and AZ Heilige Familie, where Cédric gained valuable skills in preanalytical processes and antibiotic susceptibility testing. Cédric holds a Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Technology from AP Hogeschool Antwerpen, earned between 2010 and 2013.
