Hans Prenen

Hans Prenen has extensive work experience in the field of oncology. Hans is currently the Head of the Oncology Department at UZA, a position they started in December 2021. Prior to this, they were the Deputy Head of the Oncology Department at University Hospital Antwerp from May 2018 to December 2021. During this time, they also served as the Head of Phase I - Early Clinical Trials Unit and Director of the Clinical Trial Management Program. Before joining University Hospital Antwerp, Hans worked as a Professor of Medical Oncology at UZ Leuven from February 2009 to April 2018. Hans also served as a Consulting MD at Imelda vzw from January 2011 to July 2013 and received training in oncology at Institut Jules Bordet from August 2007 to January 2008.

Hans Prenen's education history begins with their enrollment at KU Leuven in 1994, where they pursued a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree. Hans successfully completed their medical studies in 2001. Following this, Hans returned to KU Leuven from 2003 to 2006 for their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Biomedical Sciences, with a focus on General Biomedical Sciences. In 2006, Hans engaged in a specialisation in oncology at KU Leuven, which they completed in 2009.
