Jianhua ZHOU

Jianhua Zhou has extensive work experience in the technology industry. Jianhua is currently working as a Product Manager at V-Nova Ltd., where they lead the development and adoption of MPEG-5 part 2 LCEVC codec technology in video applications. Their responsibilities include maintaining the roadmap of core codec products.

Prior to their current role, Jianhua worked at NAGRA for over a decade. Jianhua started as an Integration Support Engineer, where they helped phone manufacturers integrate Nagra smartcard-based CAS solutions. Jianhua also developed a simple player that included CAS client integration.

Jianhua later served as a Software Engineer at NAGRA, specializing in OTT Media Player development. Jianhua contributed significantly to implementing HLS and DASH specifications, including buffering management and adaptive bitrate streaming algorithms.

In 2011, Jianhua was promoted to Development Team Lead at NAGRA, responsible for leading engineering teams in China and Wales to develop OTT Media Player SDKs for various platforms. Their achievements included delivering secure player SDKs for Android, iOS, and desktop platforms, incorporating HLS and DASH ABR streaming protocols. Jianhua also set up CI (Bamboo and Jenkins) and Cucumber BDD test frameworks for quality assurance.

In 2018, Jianhua became a Product Owner at NAGRA, overseeing the development of secure OTT Media Player SDKs for Android, iOS, HTML5, and SmartTV platforms. Jianhua managed the product backlog and roadmap, wrote user stories, and communicated with cross-functional teams to manage dependencies.

Before joining NAGRA, Jianhua worked as a Software Engineer at Orange from 2006 to 2008.

Jianhua Zhou earned a master's degree in Communication and Information System from Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications between 1999 and 2006. In addition, they obtained two additional certifications: "Developing Emerging Leaders" from INSEAD in July 2020 and "Certified Widevine Implementation Partner" from Wiidewine in July 2017.
