The purpose of VA Quality Scholars (VAQS) is to provide an interprofessional fellowship program in healthcare quality improvement for physicians and nurses as well as associated health professionals such as pharmacists, clinical psychologists, social workers, and physical therapists.  In this two-year fellowship, trainees develop and apply new knowledge for the ongoing improvement of healthcare services throughout the United States Veterans Health Administration (VA) and healthcare systems across North America.

The Research and Fellowship team at VA Quality Scholars is dedicated to advancing healthcare quality through rigorous research and education. Members, including postdoctoral fellows and chief fellows, engage in scholarly activities that develop innovative solutions for healthcare improvement, specifically tailored to the needs of Veterans. They also focus on interprofessional collaboration, ensuring that fellows acquire the critical skills necessary to lead and teach others in the healthcare community about quality and safety methodologies.
