Jim Engler has a work experience in the field of engineering. Jim started working at Logos Technologies LLC in 2005 as a Senior Staff Engineer. During this time, they worked on multiple subsystems of SPRITE, an integrated airborne wide area, spectral, and inspection sensor. Jim also developed a scene segmentation capability for the airborne spectral sensor and managed the development of command and control software for the Direct Compression Sector Laser. In 2020, Jim joined Vadum Inc. as a Senior Engineer, and they are currently in that role.
Jim Engler has a strong educational background in engineering and environmental science. Jim obtained a Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering from Iowa State University in the years 1982 to 1987. Jim then pursued a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Houston from 1989 to 1993. Continuing their education, they earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Environmental Science and Engineering from Rice University between 1994 and 1997.
In addition to their formal education, Jim has obtained several certifications from Coursera. In 2018, they completed the Deep Learning Specialization, which included courses in Convolutional Neural Networks, Improving Deep Neural Networks, Neural Networks and Deep Learning, Sequence Models, and Structuring Machine Learning Projects. Furthermore, in 2020, they completed certifications including Prediction and Control with Function Approximation, Reinforcement Learning Specialization, and Sample-based Learning Methods, all from Coursera.
These educational experiences showcase Jim's expertise in engineering, environmental science, and machine learning.
