Co-Founder | COO | Scientist at Valar Labs

Damir Vrabac is a Co-Founder, COO, and Scientist at Valar Labs since 2021. Prior to this, they were a Researcher at SNAP at Stanford University from 2020, where they studied mobility patterns associated with SARS-CoV-2 in Prof. Jure Leskovec's lab and explored ways to apply machine learning, in particular, Graph Neural Networks (GNNs) to predict Superspreading Events (SSEs) and design mitigation techniques. Damir was also a Researcher at Stanford Machine Learning Group from 2020, conducting research on AI for Healthcare in Prof. Andrew Y. Ng's lab. In 2021, they were a Summer Associate at J.P. Morgan in the Quantitative Research department. In 2020, they were a Machine Learning Intern at iZettle. From 2019-2018, they were a Research Intern and Teaching Assistant at Kungliga Tekniska högskolan, where they developed new techniques for estimation of spreading over networks, applied existing models, developed a platform for spreading and network data collection, and contributed to publications. In 2017, they founded and led Potential, a career fair for the Electrical Engineering chapter at KTH, which has been the highest revenue stream for the chapter ever since. In 2015, they founded Zinple, which develops products that replace contact-less travelcards with bracelets and keyfobs, and partnered with Stockholm’s public transportation system, one of the largest public transportation systems in Europe. In 2014, they served as a Chairman and Board Member at Unga Aktiesparare, Sweden’s largest organization that promotes and educates young people in finance and economics with over 11k members. Damir was also a Summer Intern at Trimble in 2014 and 2015, where they assembled, trimmed, and tested electro-optical distance measuring instruments.

Damir Vrabac received their Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from KTH Royal Institute of Technology and their Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University. Damir also attended Östra Reals Gymnasium from 2012 to 2015 and studied Ekonomi.
