Geert Smit

Geert Smit has extensive experience in data governance and management consultancy. Geert currently holds the position of Sr. Manager at Valcon, where they have been working since November 2021. Prior to this, they were the Team Lead Data Governance / EIM Consultant at Valcon from January 2019 to November 2021. Before their time at Valcon, Geert worked as an Enterprise Information Management Consultant at Jibes B.V. from November 2009 to January 2019. Geert started their career as Co-Owner of Smit & Flink Media from September 2004 to November 2009.

Geert Smit completed their MSc. degree in Information Science from the University of Amsterdam, where they studied from 2005 to 2008. Geert also holds various additional certifications, including the DAMA CDMP Certification - Associate and Data Management Fundamentals Exam: Practitioner Level from Canvas Credentials (Badgr), obtained in April 2023. Geert obtained an SDEN-niveau 3 - Wijnbrevet certification from Stichting Dranken Examens en Normering (SDEN) in November 2021. Geert also obtained the Professional Scrum Master I (PSM I) certification from Scrum.org in April 2014 and The Open Group Certified: TOGAF® 9 Certified certification from The Open Group in November 2012.
