Therence Bois

Co-Founder & COO at Valence Discovery

Therence Bois has a diverse work experience starting in 2016. Therence co-founded an ag-tech startup called Umiko, which focused on transforming organic waste into food using insect farming and aquaponics. After leaving Umiko in January 2018, they co-founded Valence Discovery, where they currently serve as the Co-Founder and COO. In 2016, they also became a Partner at Front Row Ventures, Canada's first student-led venture capital fund, specializing in life sciences investments. During this time, they led investments in nPlex Biosciences and eNuvio. Additionally, in 2016, they started working towards a Master's degree in Molecular and Cellular Medicine at the Institut de recherches cliniques de Montréal (IRCM) and completed it in 2017. Therence continued their studies at IRCM as a PhD Candidate, focusing on the same field. In 2020, they joined Lightspeed Venture Partners as an Investment Scout.

Therence Bois has a strong educational background with a focus on molecular and cellular medicine. In 2013, they obtained their Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from UQAM | Université du Québec à Montréal. Building on this foundation, Therence pursued a Master's degree in Molecular Biology - Molecular & Cellular Medicine at Université de Montréal from 2016 to 2017. They continued their academic journey at the same institution and are currently enrolled in a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) program, also specializing in the field of Molecular & Cellular Medicine.
