Derek Jones

Derek Jones currently serves as Chief Executive Officer, Chief Strategy Officer, and Vice President at Valens Global since September 2019, alongside the role of Special Projects Officer/Subject Matter Expert at the Irregular Warfare Center (IWC) from October 2022. Previously, Derek Jones held various leadership positions including Interagency Deputy Director at USSOCOM and Deputy Commander at SOCCENT. Additional experience includes commanding roles at the U.S. Army Special Operations Recruiting Battalion and Special Operations Command Europe. Derek Jones holds multiple advanced degrees in strategic studies, theater operations, joint planning, and unconventional warfare, complemented by a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines.
