Eli Ben Shimol

RT/embedded SW developer at Valens Semiconductor

Eli Ben Shimol has a diverse range of work experience. Eli started their career as a Researcher at Hadassah Ein Kerem, where they worked on MRI research projects related to the diagnosis of Parkinson's and depression using fMRI scans. Eli also conducted image processing and analysis using MATLAB and IDL.

Afterwards, Eli joined The Hebrew University of Jerusalem as a PhD student in computer science and engineering. Eli worked in the "Computer Aided Surgery And Medical Image Processing" lab, where they developed automatic methods for the radiological follow-up of meningiomas after radiosurgery. This involved collaborating with a neurosurgeon and a radiologist at Hadassah Ein Kerem.

Eli then joined InfinityLabs R&D as a Software Developer, where they gained hands-on experience in software development. Eli worked on various projects, utilizing their programming skills.

Following their time at InfinityLabs R&D, Eli became a Lecturer for MATLAB at the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology. Eli delivered lectures on MATLAB, providing instruction and guidance to students.

Most recently, Eli joined Valens as an RT/Embedded SW Developer. Here, they focused on developing ROM applications for secured boot of ASIC firmware and backup handling. Eli was actively involved in the development of a new chip, working in FPGA and ASIC environments, including software design and implementation, code porting, and adapting code to new requirements.

Overall, Eli Ben Shimol has gained valuable experience in MRI research, software development, and semiconductor product development throughout their career.

Eli Ben Shimol completed their education in a chronological order. Eli attained a Bachelor's degree in Biomedical/Medical Engineering from Lev Academic Center, which they pursued from 2007 to 2010. Following this, they pursued a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Neurobiology and Anatomy at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, from 2011 to 2014. Eli then went on to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Computer Science, also at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, completing it between 2014 and 2016. Prior to these academic achievements, they attended Midrashiat Noam from 1994 to 1997, although specific degrees or fields of study for this period were not mentioned.
