Tyler Mercer

Tyler Mercer is a seasoned legal professional with extensive experience in corporate law, currently serving as Senior Managing Counsel at Valero Energy Corporation since June 2018. Throughout a career at Valero beginning in 2003, Tyler held various legal positions, including Sr. Advisory Counsel and Senior Counsel - Litigation, focusing on drafting and negotiating a wide array of commercial agreements and managing litigation strategies, particularly in toxic tort cases. Prior to Valero, Tyler practiced as a Partner at Lubel Voyles LLP and as Associate/Counsel at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP. Early legal experience includes serving as Briefing Attorney for the Honorable H.F. "Hippo" Garcia at the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas. Tyler holds a JD from Texas Tech University School of Law and an MPA from Texas Tech University, complemented by a BA in History and Political Science from Southwestern University.
