Cheng Peixiang was born in April 1969 in Xiangxiang city, Hunan Province. He joined the Chinese Communist Party in June 1998 and started his career in August 1991. And, he graduated from the University of Science and Technology Beijing (USTB) in 1991, majored in Metallurgy and Machinery, and got a master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from USTB, an EMBA in CEIBS, and doctor’s degree in Science and Engineering Management in Central South University in 2015, holding a title of professor of engineering.
He worked successively as Vice Director of the Machinery workshop of the High-Speed Wire Rod Factory of Xiangtan Steel, Vice Senior Engineer of the High-Speed Wire Rod factory of Xiangtan Steel, Deputy Director of No. 2 High-Speed Wire Rod Factory of Xiangtan Steel, General Manager of High-Speed Wire Rod factory of Xiangtan Steel, Preparatory Group leader of New Steel making (heavy plates) of Xiangtan Steel, Director of heavy plates manufacturing department of Xiangtan Steel. He was appointed as General Manager Assistant of Xiangtan Steel in July 2005, Vice General Manager of Xiangtan Steel in May 2006, Deputy Party Secretary, Vice General Manager of Xiangtan Steel in February 2009, and Executive Vice General Manager, Deputy Party Secretary of Xiangtan Steel in November 2010. He serves Lianyuan Steel as Party Secretary since 2015 and serves VAMA as Chairman since 2018.
