Veera Virtanen

Veera Virtanen currently serves as the Ecosystem Lead for Food 2.0 at Valio, a role commenced in May 2024, focusing on a major research and innovation initiative. Prior to this, Veera led VTT's Multi-material Recycling Platform, championing advances in recycling technologies for complex materials from January 2023 to May 2024. At Woodly Ltd, from February 2022 to January 2023, Veera directed business development, identifying new opportunities and establishing value chains for product innovations. This followed a diverse career at VTT from 2010 to 2022, including roles such as Co-Creation Manager and Business Development Manager, where Veera contributed significantly to technology transfer, customer alignment, and ecosystem development in the fields of biotechnology and food. Earlier experience includes leadership in enzyme application research at KCL and bioprocess research at Helsinki University of Technology. Veera holds a Lic. Sc. (Tech) in Bioprocess Engineering from Teknillinen korkeakoulu-Tekniska högskolan.
