Katherin Wermke

Katherin Wermke has a diverse and extensive work experience in photography. Katherin is currently the Co-Founder and Art Director at Photo Utopia since June 2021. Prior to this, they founded and directed both Barcelona Photographer and Berlin Photographer, specializing in advertising, portrait, industrial, and corporate photography. From 2018, they served as a Staff Photographer at Fundación Fero and also worked as a Photographer for AFPE - Professional Photographers Association of Spain. Katherin was the Head Photographer at Vall d´Hebron Institute of Oncology (VHIO) and worked as an instructor at ELISAVA, teaching advanced studio lighting and photography. Additionally, they conducted photography workshops and journeys in Barcelona and Berlin through their agency, Insider Fototour. Katherin is also a Co-founder at The End Coop, where they provide training and consultancy for organizations to implement the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Overall, Katherin Wermke has demonstrated a strong passion and expertise in the field of photography throughout their career.

Katherin Wermke studied Fashion Photography at the School of Visual Arts in New York starting in 2006. In the same year, they also pursued a degree in Portrait lighting at the International Center of Photography in New York. Prior to that, they obtained a Master's degree in Commercial Photography from the Institut d'Estudis Fotogràfics de Catalunya from 2000 to 2005. Additionally, they received a scholarship ERASMUS in Audiovisual Communications Technologies/Technicians from Universitat Pompeu Fabra in 2000, and studied Audiovisual Communications Technologies/Technicians at the University of Cologne from 1998 to 2000. There is no available information about their education at Altes Gymnasium. Katherin also holds a certification as an Open Water Diver from ACUC, acquired in 2014.
