Steve Sorota

Steve Sorota is a seasoned professional in drug discovery with extensive experience in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries. Currently serving as Senior Director of Drug Discovery at Valo Health since April 2022 and Director of Drug Discovery at TARA Biosystems since October 2019, Steve's role emphasizes the discovery of transformational therapies for heart failure and pulmonary hypertension. Prior to these positions, Steve spent nearly a decade at Merck, where work included leading the heart failure group and overseeing electrophysiology efforts after the merger with Schering-Plough. At Schering-Plough Research Institute, Steve interacted with international regulatory agencies and led a focus on cardiac repolarization safety. With an academic background as a postdoctoral researcher and assistant professor at Columbia University, Steve holds a Ph.D. in Pharmacology from The University of Connecticut Health Center and a Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy from the University of Connecticut School of Pharmacy.
