Michael Mooney

Michael Mooney has a diverse work experience in the mortgage industry. Michael is currently the Head of Underwriting at Valon since March 2023. Prior to that, they worked at Homepoint as the Director of Underwriting from June 2022 to September 2022, and as the Sr. Director Underwriting Manager from October 2020 to July 2022. Before Homepoint, they held positions at Caliber Home Loans, Inc. as an Underwriting Manager from July 2019 to October 2020, and as an Underwriter briefly in June 2019. Michael also worked at DHI Mortgage as an Underwriter from February 2019 to June 2019. Earlier in their career, they worked at BBVA in the USA as the VP Regional Non-QM Underwriting Manager from September 2015 to November 2018, and as a Non-QM Mortgage Underwriter from July 2014 to September 2015. Michael also worked at Stonegate Mortgage Corporation as an FHA Mortgage Underwriter from October 2013 to July 2014. Starting their career at JPMorgan Chase, they served as an FHA Mortgage Underwriting Supervisor from October 2012 to October 2013, and as an FHA Mortgage Underwriter from June 2009 to October 2012. Additionally, they worked at Bank of America as a Mortgage Underwriter from March 2005 to May 2008.

Michael Mooney received their High School Diploma from Brophy College Preparatory, where they attended from 2000 to 2004. Michael then pursued further education at Arizona State University, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Business Tourism from 2005 to 2009.
