Executive Director Of Impact at Valor Collegiate Academies

Travis Commons has a range of experience in the education sector. Travis started their career as a Special Education Teacher at Chicago International Charter School in 2008. Travis then moved on to Rowe Elementary School, where they held various positions including Assistant Principal, Dean of Scholars, and Interim Principal. During their time at Rowe, Travis established a school-wide culture, provided coaching and professional development for teachers, and analyzed data for continuous improvement. In 2014, they joined Valor Collegiate Academies as Principal and later took on the role of Director of Sharing and Learning in 2017. Overall, Travis's experience spans teaching, leadership, and fostering a positive educational environment.

Travis Commons obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education and Special Education from Ball State University from 1995 to 2000. Travis then pursued a Master of Education degree in Special Education at the University of Illinois Chicago from 2002 to 2005. Following that, they continued their education at the University of Illinois Chicago and obtained a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Education from 2005 to 2010.
