Derek Jones

Derek Jones has a diverse range of work experience. Derek is currently employed at Valvoline Inc. as the Head of Software Engineering since June 2023. Prior to this, they worked at Walmart Labs as a Senior Director from November 2017 to June 2023. Before their time at Walmart Labs, they were a Solution Engineer at Salesforce from October 2016 to October 2017. Derek also spent a significant portion of their career at Microsoft Corporation, where they held the position of Global Account Technology Strategist from November 2009 to September 2016. Before joining Microsoft, Derek worked as a Professional Services Consultant at Teradata from September 1998 to October 2009. Derek began their career as a Forensics Analyst at SW Missouri Crime Lab from May 1997 to August 1998.

Derek Jones attended the University of Alabama at Birmingham from 1995 to 1997, where they studied Molecular Biology. Prior to that, they obtained their Master of Science degree in Microbiology, General from the University of Arkansas between 1989 and 1995. In 2015, Derek also obtained the Microsoft Certified Azure Solutions Architect certification from Microsoft.
