Gary Payne

Gary Payne is an experienced civil engineering professional with extensive management roles in the construction sector. Currently serving as Director and Head of Civils at Van Elle since March 2021, Gary previously held positions including National Civils Construction Manager at Siemens from March 2012 to November 2020 and General Manager at Morgan Sindall (Construction & Infrastructure) from February 2007 to February 2012. Earlier roles include Agent at Carillion and Site Agent at AMEC-Alfred Mcalpine Joint Venture, where involvement in the West Anglian route upgrade included upgrading OLE and signalling assets. Gary began the career at Balfour Beatty plc as a Site/Senior Site Engineer, contributing to high-profile projects such as the Heathrow Express tunnelling project. Gary holds a 2:1 Beng Hons degree in Civil Engineering from Ulster University, obtained from 1991 to 1995.
