Emilie Gordenker

Director at Van Gogh Museum

As of 1 February 2020, Emilie will be director of the Van Gogh Museum. The groups Collection (Collection and Research, Collection Management & Restoration, Registrar's Office, Collection Information), Education & Presentation (Education & Interpretation, Exhibitions, Publications, The Mesdag Collection), Marketing & Communication (Digital Communication, Marketing, Press Office, Events) and the Development department are led by Emilie.

From 2008 to 2020, Emilie was director of the Mauritshuis in The Hague. Before that, she was senior curator of Dutch and Flemish painting at the National Gallery of Scotland.

She has a BA in Russian and East European Studies (Yale University) and a PhD in art history with a specialism in 17th-century Dutch and Flemish art (New York University).

In addition to her position, Emilie is a member of the BIZOT group and a member of the Board Fulbright The Netherlands.
