Derek Temple

Derek Temple has extensive experience in the insurance industry, with a focus on employee benefits. Derek currently serves as Vice President of Employee Benefits at Van Wyk Risk Solutions since January 2019. Previously, from April 2016 to December 2018, they worked as an Employee Benefits Consultant and Sales Executive at Cottingham & Butler. Prior to that, Derek worked at Cigna for nearly a decade, starting in January 2007 as a Senior New Business Manager. During their time at Cigna, they played a key role in educating employers and brokers on alternative funding arrangements, developing employee engagement and wellness programs, and managing producer relationships to drive profitable growth in the middle market employer segment.

Derek Temple holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics Education from Hope College. Derek also has additional certifications as a Chartered Life Underwriter from The American College of Financial Services and as a Licensed Accident & Sickness, Life Insurance Agent from the State of Michigan.
