Spencer Russell

Spencer Russell is an Associate Professor of Fish Health at Vancouver Island University since August 2015 and an Aquatic Veterinary Consultant for Canpath Aquatic Veterinary Services since 2010, specializing in aquatic animal health, disease diagnosis, biosecurity consultations, and contract research. Spencer served as Past President of the Aquatic Animal Veterinarians of British Columbia from December 2015 to February 2018 and held positions as Research Fellow and Research Manager at Novartis Animal Health (now Elanco Animal Health) from December 2013 to August 2015, and as Strategic Account Manager, Senior Scientist, and Attending Veterinarian at Pfizer Animal Health from August 2011 to December 2013. Spencer's academic background includes a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Guelph, a Ph.D. in Immunology from the University of Guelph, a Master of Science in Pathobiology and Veterinary Science from the University of Connecticut, and a Bachelor of Science with honors from the University of Alberta.
