Jody Barnwell Smith is an experienced healthcare professional with a focus on nursing and advanced practice roles. Currently serving as an Outpatient Palliative Care Nurse Practitioner at Vanderbilt University Medical Center since April 2016, Jody has also held positions as an Assistant in Surgery and Nurse Practitioner in the Surgical ICU, as well as an Advanced Practice Nurse Team Leader. Prior experience includes functioning as an ICU Nurse Practitioner with Cardiovascular Anesthesiologists from July 2013 to April 2016, and working as a Critical Care Nurse at Vanderbilt University from June 2006 to July 2013. Jody has also contributed to education as an Adjunct Faculty Instructor at Tennessee Technological University from September 2020 to 2022, and as a Clinical Instructor at Aquinas College in 2008. Jody holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from The University of Tennessee Health Science Center and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Tennessee Technological University.
