Juan Carlos Salazar

Juan Carlos Salazar serves as the James C. Overall Professor and Chair of the Department of Pediatrics at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and also holds the position of System Pediatrician in Chief at Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital, both since August 2025. Salazar has been a Professor and Chair of Pediatrics at the University of Connecticut Health Center since March 2013, while also serving in various leadership roles at Connecticut Children's Medical Center, including Executive Vice President and Physician in Chief from October 2009 to August 2025. Salazar's academic credentials include a Master of Public Health in Epidemiology from the University of Minnesota (1992-1995) and a Doctor of Medicine from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana (1980-1986).
