Michael J. Ward, MD, PhD, MBA, serves as a Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine and Biomedical Informatics and holds the position of Vice Chair for Research at Vanderbilt University Medical Center since July 2013. In addition to these roles, Michael is the Research Director and previously served as an Associate and Assistant Professor in the same department. Since July 2013, Michael has also worked as a Staff Emergency Physician for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. Prior experience includes completing a PhD in Operations Management at the University of Cincinnati, where research focused on optimization and simulation to enhance acute care services. Michael's training encompasses residency in Emergency Medicine at the University of Cincinnati and an internship developing a throughput tracking system at ApolloMD. Educational credentials include an MD from Emory University School of Medicine, an MBA from Emory University - Goizueta Business School, and a BS in Neuroscience & Behavioral Biology from Emory University.
