Co-founder and Executive Chair at Vanna Health

Thomas Insel MD has a diverse work experience in the fields of psychiatry, neuroscience, and mental health. Thomas is currently the Co-founder and Executive Chair of Vanna Health, a position they have held since June 2022. Prior to this, they served as an Adjunct Professor at Stanford University School of Medicine's Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences starting in February 2017. In 2019, they provided board services for both non-profit organizations such as the Steinberg Institute and for-profit organizations like Vanna Health-NeuraWell. Additionally, Dr. Insel served as a Scientific Advisor for multiple companies including Alto Neurosci, Cerebral, and Compass Pathways starting in January 2021. Thomas also co-founded humanest in 2020. In terms of government work, Dr. Insel acted as a Special Advisor for Behavioral Health in the Office of the Governor of California from January 2019 to January 2020. Prior to these roles, they co-founded Mindstrong Health in May 2017 and worked as a neuroscientist at Verily Life Sciences from December 2015 to May 2017. Dr. Insel's extensive career began in 2002 when they became the Director of the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) and served in that position until 2015.

Thomas Insel MD pursued their medical education at Boston University School of Medicine from 1970 to 1974. Thomas attained their MD degree with a specialization in Medicine during this period.
