Derek Buxton

Derek Buxton is a seasoned professional in the marine and defense sectors, currently serving as Vice President of Business Development at Vard Marine Inc since June 2018. Prior to this role, Derek held various senior positions at the Canadian Coast Guard, including Senior Director of Future Capability Development and Program Manager for the Polar Icebreaker. Derek's extensive experience in the Department of National Defence involved roles such as Design Authority for Submarine Platform Systems and In-service Manager for Victoria Class Submarines. Additionally, Derek contributed to the Royal Australian Navy and the Royal Canadian Navy as a Quality Systems Manager and Project Manager for Ship Refits, respectively. Educational qualifications include a Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering from the Royal Military College of Canada and an MBA from Deakin University.
