Stephane Castel

Stephane Castel is Co-Founder & Chief Technology Officer at Variant Bio. Stephane has also worked as a Senior Research Fellow at New York Genome Center and a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Columbia University in the City of New York. Before that, they were a Graduate Student at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory.

Stephane's work focuses on genomic data sets and molecular biology experiments. Stephane has been instrumental in uncovering a novel molecular function for a core component of the RNAi machinery. Their work has helped to maintain genome stability and prevent cancer in higher organisms.

Stephane Castel received a B.Sc.H. in Molecular Biology and Genetics from the University of Guelph. Stephane then went on to earn a Ph.D. in Genetics from Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory. Finally, they completed a postdoc in Computational Genetics at Columbia University.

They are on a team with Gregory Tranah - VP, Medical Biology, Kaja Wasik - Chief Science Officer, and Alon Keinan - Senior Director, Population Genetics. Stephane Castel reports to Andrew Farnum, CEO.
