Niki Dobrev

Niki Dobrev is a seasoned software engineer with extensive experience in mixed reality and game development. Currently serving as the Lead XR Engineer at Varjo since October 2018, Niki oversees a team of approximately 10 engineers focused on creating advanced mixed reality features for XR head-mounted displays. Niki's background includes roles as a Principal Software Engineer at PTC, where responsibility included the development of the Vuforia augmented reality SDK, and co-founder of Nordic Mobile Labs Ltd, with a focus on game programming. Additional experience encompasses positions at Rovio Entertainment, Konecranes, and Logia Software, complemented by a Master’s Degree in Knowledge Management from Tampere University of Technology. Proficient in C++, DX11, Vulkan, and various other tools, Niki has contributed to multiple high-performance video processing systems and cross-platform software solutions.
