Pyry Haulos is a seasoned technology leader with extensive experience in software development and engineering management. Currently serving as the Chief Technology Officer at Varjo since April 2023, Pyry drives the company's technology vision in the XR space. Prior to this role, Pyry held the position of VP, Device Software at Varjo, overseeing the development of software for the company's headsets. At Amazon, from January 2021 to April 2023, Pyry was a Software Development Manager, successfully integrating Umbra's team into Amazon Scout and leading various innovative projects. Pyry also served as Director of Engineering at Umbra, contributing to the company's acquisition by Amazon. Previous roles include Staff Software Engineer and Senior Software Engineer at Google, and Vulkan Conformance Test Lead at Khronos Group. Pyry co-founded drawElements, acting as CTO to develop significant products for GPU driver quality assurance. Early career experience includes a position as Senior Software Engineer at Symbio. Pyry holds a degree from Aalto University.
